Come here! Come back!

Using your body as a magnet...
When dogs are learning to recall or being introduced to a new object or dog bed or working in a new environment, they often need a bit of extra help to get the job done! In this video, Doug and I are doing some recalls to place outside and when he approaches the cot he runs right by!

The most common instinct in this situation is to chase after the dog and try to corral him, which would actually push the dog further away. What we want to do instead is move backward and away from the dog while drawing him back towards us. So you’ll see me step back over the cot to the other side so that I am opposite Doug with the cot in between us as I also add some remote collar guidance and some encouragement to attract him back to me and up on the cot... like a magnet!
