Proofing Impulse Control
During training, I set up and practice a variety of controlled situations (like proofing commands and impulse control, doorbell exercises, dog work/manners around my personal dog helpers, etc.) to develop the skills the dog needs before we head out to use those practiced skill sets in the real world with all the unknown variables… kind of like how a sports team practices their moves and skills at home before they head out to play a real match!
When a dog has a very strong prey drive and a dislike of other dogs entering her personal space, proofing is very important!
