Oops! She Jumped right in!
A very driven, working style dog is prone to some intense moments that her handler will always have to work to keep in check by holding them highly accountable for always using her polite manners, calm mindset and thinking (waiting for her handler) before just leaping! And although her bold, fearless, energetic go go go personality is something that I love most about working dogs, that intensity of a working breed dog is also something that needs to be kept in check when they live in a pet home.
Thresholds, like at the car door, are just one example of the type of moments that we can’t let slide because if we do it leads to even wilder inappropriate behaviour in other situations too… give an inch and this high drive gal takes 100 miles and your shoulder socket too! 😂 Ouch! 😬
In this video, we’ll see an example of a very impulsive car door threshold by a working dog and then her doing the threshold properly and more politely after I’ve corrected her mindset and behaviour.
There are no slack moments when living with these incredible working breeds!
